Why I Don’t Feel Free In America – Burna Boy
Nigerian Grammy-winning singer, Damini Ogulu popularly known as Burna Boy has shared his thoughts on living abroad, saying he does not feel completely free in the United States.
Abia Radio News reports that the Odogwu crooner said his sense of peace and freedom exists only in Nigeria, where he feels most at home.
Speaking during an interview with streamer Playboymax, Burna Boy explained that while there are things he enjoys about being in the U.S., he never feels entirely comfortable there.
According to him, true freedom for him can only be found in his own country.
The Afrobeats artiste said that although America offers many opportunities, it does not provide the same feeling of ease and authenticity he experiences in Nigeria.
He described his homeland as a place where he can live without constant restrictions and be himself without fear.
He said: “I like freedom, and the definition of freedom is in my country.”
“I can never be fully free here, if I could though.
“’Cause nggs go to jail, like all the best nggs I know go to jail, and I know that’s not what I’m trying to do.
