Osun: Adeleke Moves To Douse Tension In PDP, Calls For Internal Resolution
Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has appealed to members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to remain calm amid the ongoing leadership crisis rocking the party at the national level, describing the dispute as a “family affair” that will soon be resolved.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, November 5, by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke assured that stakeholders within the PDP were already working tirelessly to restore peace and reposition the party for greater success.
“I urge all members of our party, the PDP, to remain calm and be steadfast. We are cruising to victory next year and we must remain committed to ensuring that we rebuild this party for renewed landslide victory,” the governor said.
The governor downplayed the national crisis, insisting that it would soon be resolved through dialogue and unity among party leaders.
“The ongoing disagreement within the party at the national level is a family affair and I want to assure all members both at the state and national level that it will soon be resolved. All the stakeholders at the national level have the party’s progress and success at heart and are all looking at ways to resolve the crisis as soon as possible,” he stated.
Turning his attention to state politics, Governor Adeleke directed PDP leaders across local governments and wards in Osun to intensify mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2026 governorship election, stressing that the ruling party in the state remains the one to beat.
“I hereby direct all party leaders across wards and local governments to begin massive mobilisation for our party ahead of the 2026 Governorship Election. We are the party to beat and our party will come out stronger and better,” he added.
Abia Radio News reports that the PDP has been engulfed in internal wrangling following disagreements among party stakeholders, leading to suspensions and counter-suspensions within the party’s leadership.
Governor Adeleke’s intervention is expected to calm tensions and redirect focus toward unity and preparation for electoral victory.
