A founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr. Eme Okoro has advised the party to zone its 2027 Presidential ticket to the South East or expect failure in the zone.

Okoro, who is a former Secretary to Abia State Government, gave the advice on Monday in Umuahia while speaking to journalists on the crisis rocking the party.

The former SSG, who described himself as “one of the remnants in PDP”, said there was no assurance that the people of the South East would vote for the party if their interest is not guaranteed.

He regretted that the PDP, which was founded on mandate and support of the people, is fast losing the trust of Nigerians because of imposition, impunity, authoritarianism and disrespect to agreements.

“PDP must zone the Presidential ticket to the South East. Ala Igbo must produce the Presidential candidate of any party that wants my support and those of the people.

“We must not repeat the mistake of the past and we should respect the principles of equity,” he stated.

The PDP chieftain disclosed that his party, PDP, recorded a dismissal outing during the 2023 general elections in Abia State because the umbrella party refused to listen to his earlier warnings against imposition and disrespect to Abia Charter of Equity.

He declared that he had no regrets supporting Governor Alex Otti of the Labour Party even as a PDP member, arguing that his support for the Governor was based on his achievements.
