Nigerian singer, Oluwafemi Oladapo, also known as Slimcase, has shared his thoughts on the current state of Afrobeats.

Abia Radio News reports that Slimcase, in a post via his Instagram page, stated that Nigerian artists are releasing too many songs and albums.

According to him, Nigerian musicians are putting themselves under unnecessary pressure to release new projects frequently.

He wrote, “Too many songs, too many albums. Una too dey put una self for pressure for this Niger sha. Take a chill pill and be like Rihanna. Do other things and come back give us a fresh vibe.

“Your sounds are getting boring because they’re coming too much in a year. I owe dem a song this year and that’s it. It’s only God that is new every morning. Everyday every second singles and albums dey kiii Afrobeats gradually it’s not fun anymore.”

Meanwhile, singer Omawumi has revealed how her colleague, Cobhams Asuquo, helped her in turning her career around.

Speaking during an appearance on Hip TV, Omawunmi disclosed how she got a call from Cobhams asking her to do a song with him.

Omawumi said she accepted the offer, not knowing it would become a career-defining moment.

She said, “The first time we met, he just called. I knew we met on the show, and he said, ‘Omawumi, this is Cobhams Asuquo-you know he likes to funkify his name. There is a song I want you to do. It might not come out as anything for now, but let’s just go with it.

I did the song, and then the agency picked it. I became the brand ambassador for that product for two years. Cobhams taught me a lot of nuances when it comes to delivery and posture.”
