Shockwaves in Abia North: Mass PDP Resignations Rock Bende as Ude Oko’s Loyalists Exit in Droves | SEE LIST
Crisis hits PDP in Abia North as Ude Oko Chukwu’s loyalists resign in droves, crippling Bende LGA’s structure. More big names set to exit. Read full details.
PDP in Abia North is facing one of its toughest political crises in years as the political structure of former Abia State Deputy Governor and ex-Speaker, Rt. Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu, continues to dismantle the party’s local dominance — this time in Bende Local Government Area.
Barely days after Ude Oko himself resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), his loyalists in various wards and LGAs have begun pulling out in large numbers, sparking concerns among party leaders.
In Bende LGA, the situation has reached alarming levels, with almost the entire structure collapsing under the weight of high-profile resignations. Among those who have officially dumped the PDP include Amb. Loving Okoro, Hon. Chief Ogbonna Ifenkwe, Hon. Nwagbara Godswill Evans, and Mrs Mercy Kalu, among others whose names have reached All Facts Newspaper.
Other allies that resigned from Ohafia LGA includes; Hon. Onwuka Ifegwu Iro, Hon. Agbai Enyinnaya, Hon. Emmanuel Agwu Ukpong, Chief Obasi Okibeh and others.
Political watchers say this is only the beginning, as more resignations are expected in the coming days, not just in Bende but across the five LGAs that make up Abia North Senatorial District.
Those close to Ude Oko reveal that he commands a massive political followership across Umunneochi, Bende, Ohafia, Arochukwu, and Isuikwuato, and that most of these loyalists have pledged to “march with him to his next political destination.”
While the PDP leadership in Abia North is yet to officially react, insiders say urgent damage control meetings are already underway to stem the tide before it spreads further and cripples the party’s 2027 ambitions.
This development has further heightened speculation over Ude Oko’s next political move, with many predicting that his eventual destination will send shockwaves through Abia’s political landscape.
