Former Kaduna Central lawmaker, Shehu Sani, has downplayed suggestions that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar could lose the 2027 presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to a younger aspirant.

Atiku Abubakar, in a recent interview with BBC Hausa, declared that he would not hesitate to step aside if defeated by a youthful contender in the party’s primaries.

He maintained that his priority was to help strengthen the ADC, while also pledging to support and mentor any younger flagbearer that emerges.

Reacting on Thursday via a post on X, Sani insisted that the scenario was unlikely. According to him, party delegates rarely shift ground against experienced politicians like Atiku.

“His Excellency the Waziri reportedly said he would step aside if a younger candidate wins the primaries… The keyword here is PRIMARIES,” the former senator wrote.

“It’s easier for a camel to pass through the hole of a needle than to beat the Waziri in primaries. Party delegates are a special breed of people.”

Recall that in 2022 before the general election, Shehu Sani also commented on Atiku’s chances ahead of the PDP primaries.
The outspoken lawmaker said his political weight and resources gave him a strong edge over other aspirants.
