Olamide Vows Never To Change Sound Or Switch Style To Appeal Western Audience
Nigerian indigenous rapper Olamide Adedeji, popularly known as Olamide, has said he is not desperate for international validation.
Abia Radio News reports that Olamide made this known in a recent interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra, where he spoke about his strategy in the music industry.
The ‘Skido’ crooner revealed that identifying his audience was key because the world will always catch up.
According to Olamide, he is comfortable being an indigenous artist, stressing that he would not change his sound or switch his style to appeal to a Western audience.
He said, “You have to identify your audience. Once you identify your audience, the rest of the world will catch up eventually. So, I have to stay true to myself and no matter where it is, what it is, I mean, in this world, I have to stay true to myself.
“I’m comfortable in my skin. I’m a Naija guy, Yoruba boy, I have H-Factor and all that, and I’m proud about it. You just have to stay true to yourself.”
Recall that Olamide recently described Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy as troublesome individuals.
Speaking during a recent interview with Adesope Live, the singer stated that the trio are his friends but are too troublesome.
He explained that the singers are cool dudes, but simply do not align on certain things.
