Ohafia Youths to Benefit as Okwun Ojah Launches ₦6 Million Scholarship for Law Students

Ohafia, Abia State – The people of Ohafia are set to witness yet another landmark in human capacity development as the Okwun Ojah Family Foundation prepares to launch a ₦6 million scholarship scheme for law students of Ohafia extraction studying across Nigerian universities.

The official inauguration will take place on Friday, August 29, 2025, at the SKOG Event Centre, Amaekpu Ohafia, beginning at 12:30 pm.

This initiative, championed by Chief Dr. Okwun Ojah (Onwa Ohafia and Ogbankpu Ohafia), stands as a shining example of purposeful leadership, targeted at empowering the younger generation to secure a brighter future through education. Chief Ojah has consistently demonstrated his passion for human capital investment, having in the past sponsored several medical students on scholarship and also provided borehole water projects to many communities in Ohafia and Isuikwuato, thereby solving critical needs.

The upcoming event will not only highlight the scholarship awards but also serve as a celebration of Ohafia’s deep-rooted culture of education, empowerment, and community service.

The ceremony will be chaired by Chief Dr. Joseph Eke Kalu, CEO of Blue Spring Luxury Hotel, Ebem Ohafia, while the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, will grace the occasion as Special Guest of Honour.

The revered Udumeze Ohafia, Eld. Engr. Awa Orji Udonsi, and the Chairman of Ohafia Council of Traditional Rulers, HRH Eze Ukoha Kalu Ukoha, will lead the traditional institution’s delegation.

The program will be hosted by His Majesty, Ezeogo Awa Nwankwo Mba, Regent of Amaekpu Ohafia, with Chief Dr. Okwun Ojah serving as the Chief Host.

In a statement signed by Mazi Jonah Okoro (Eziokwu bu ndu), the Foundation emphasized that the scholarship is not just about financial support but a continuation of Chief Okwun Ojah’s vision of empowering Ohafia youths to become leaders, lawyers, and change-makers in society.

The statement reads in part: “This is about investing in the next generation. The Okwun Ojah Family Foundation remains committed to supporting education, strengthening communities, and ensuring that the future leaders of Ohafia are adequately prepared.”

With this move, Chief Dr. Okwun Ojah cements his place as one of Ohafia’s leading lights, whose legacy continues to inspire both the young and old.
