No sacrifice is too big for peace – Fubara begs supporters
Having seen the mounting opposition by his supporters and those who stood by him while the Rivers State political crisis lasted to the peace deal initiated by President Bola Tinubu, Governor State, Siminalayi Fubara, says that there is no sacrifice too big for the peace, stability, and progress of the state.
Addressing his supporters in Port Harcourt on Saturday, Governor Fubara who pleaded for understanding reassured them that all steps taken, including the recent reconciliation with his predecessor and Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, were in their collective interest in mind.
The Governor who admitted that the new political realities may be painful for some to accept, especially for those who have stood firmly with him through the turbulence, however made it clear that the larger goal remains the peace and stability of Rivers State.
While acknowledging the anxiety and disappointment felt by many of his loyalists because of the peace deal, Governor Fubara pointed out that difficult times call for difficult decisions and concessions.
According to him, the reconciliation process was not a solo decision, revealing that consultations were held with key stakeholders and trusted allies within his political family at every stage.
Governor Fubara therefore expressed optimism that with the reconciliation process in motion, things would positively change in the state and reminded his supporters that now is the time to prove their loyalty and trust in his leadership.
The Governor who tried to douse tension among his supporters, acknowledged the role Wike played in his emergence as Governor, pointing out that the political history cannot be erased.
