My Wife Is Not A Wicked Woman – Afeez Owo Opens Up On 22 Years Of Marriage With Mide Martins

Nollywood Actor Afeez Owo has opened up on his his 22-year marriage with actress Mide Martins.

Abia Radio News reports that he explained how they have managed their relationship and the pet names they use for each other.

The actor, in an interview on Oyinmomo TV, said he calls his wife “Iya Alekuleja,” while she refers to him as “Baba Elere.”

He explained that these names may sound unusual compared to common endearments but they reflect the bond they share.

Afeez said that their union has worked because it is built on balance, with neither partner needing to be overly strict or overly calm.

He expressed gratitude for the years they have spent together, describing their marriage as a journey that has been sustained with patience, love, and God’s grace.

He also appreciated Mide Martins for standing by him, stressing that she has always been supportive both at home and in public.

He said: “I call her Iya Alekuleja, and she calls me Baba Elere. Those aren’t the usual pet names like dear or honey, but it works for us because of the closeness we share. Our marriage isn’t the kind where the husband has to be overly strict or the wife has to remain overly calm; we’ve built it on balance, and God has been faithful to us.

“22 years of marriage is no small thing. Ajoke, thank you for putting up with me. I swear to God, my wife is not a wicked woman, whether at home or in public.”
