ASOPADEC donates to less privileged home

As part of its determination to discharge its social responsibilities to the people, the Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ASOPADEC), has donated large quantities of beverages and toiletries to the St Vincent De Paul Home for the mentally and physically challenged, Umuafai Mbaocha Ndume Ibeku, Umuahia North LGA of Abia State.

Presenting the items to the management, the General Manager, ASOPADEC, Venerable Joshua Onyeike enjoined well-meaning individuals and corporate organizations to always identify with the physically challenged homes to enable the caregivers of the homes to take adequate care of their inmates.

Dr. Onyeike who was represented by the Director of Social Welfare, Mrs. Amarachi Isaac- Nwachukwu pointed out that the inmates need adequate care and support of all and commended the caregivers of the Home for their selfless services to the inmates.

While describing caregiving as compassionate work to humanity, the ASOPDEC General Manager Dr. Onyeike explained that the donations were aimed at reaching out to the vulnerable groups, especially the physically challenged persons in line with the policy thrust of Governor Alex Otti, who cares and shows love to the less privileged.

Responding, the Mother General of the Home, St.Paul De Vincent for physically and mentally challenged, Very Rev.Sister Justina Anyanwu expressed gratitude to the Commission for her generosity and thanked the State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti for his show of love and care to the less privileged in the State.

She further noted with delight that the gesture will boost the morale of the caregivers of the Home and appealed to other public spirited bodies and individuals to emulate ASOPADEC.
